Why is flag football or 7v7 better than tackle football for boys younger than 7th grade?
Flag football and 7v7 allow young athletes to develop the fundamentals of football. (throwing, catching, route running, passing, coverage, and decision-making) without the repeated full-contact collisions of tackle football. They emphasize skill development, participation, athleticism, and enjoyment while allowing players to build a strong foundation before progressing to tackle football at an age when they are better prepared for the physical demands of the game.
Which training program is the best for me?
Every athlete is different. To better assist with finding the best program for your athlete, we recommend starting with the progressional performance program.
What is the difference between 7v7 and flag football, and how do I choose which is best for my child?
Both 7v7 and flag football are excellent ways for young athletes to learn the game without the full contact of tackle football. Flag football is a more complete version of the game, typically including running plays, blocking concepts, passing, catching, and flag pulling. 7v7 focuses primarily on the passing game, quarterbacks, receivers, defensive backs, and coverage with no blocking or tackling.
The best choice depends on your child’s age, experience, position interests, and goals. Flag football is a great option for younger or newer players who are learning the fundamentals and want to experience all aspects of the game. 7v7 is especially beneficial for players who want to develop passing, receiving, and defensive skills or are preparing for the transition to tackle football. Either option provides a great foundation, and many athletes benefit from participating in both.

What is the 7v7 Monthly Membership Fee?
The 7v7 Football Membership covers 3 training (practice) sessions with our expert coaches. All of our coaches have over 5 years of youth training/coaching experience in addition to each of them playing at a collegiate level. *Members of staff have also played professionally. (NFL, CFL, XFL, AAF)
Why is there a fee for the 7v7 football team?
We strongly believe in the ability of our coaching staff to develop each athlete at any skill-level that participates in our program AND shows up to the training sessions with a can-do attitude. This fee helps pay for the coaching staff, administrative fees, and all other associated cost for running a business.
How is playing time decided in the tournaments?

What is the "no team hopping" policy?
We pride ourselves on the expertise of our coaching staff and the development of your athlete. For this reason, we do not allow team hopping from our organization to another organization. Our focus is to encourage athletes to trust the process of their individual growth. If a player has been identified as a member of our 7v7 program and participates with another team at any point throughout the season or after, that player becomes ineligible to participate in our 7v7 program moving forward. This policy does not apply to athletes who do not compete with our program throughout the entire season. This policy only applies to players participating with multiple 7v7 teams.
NFL Flag | FAQs
Are all NFL FLAG programs the same?
No.
NFL FLAG provides a recognizable national platform for youth flag football, but individual organizations can offer very different experiences in terms of structure, coaching, practice frequency, competition, season length, and overall commitment.
That’s why we encourage parents not to choose a program based solely on the words “NFL FLAG.”
Look at what happens once your child steps onto the field.
Our program is intentionally designed around development and competition. Athletes practice twice per week, work on their skills throughout a 12-week season, and compete in tournaments against teams from across the Metroplex.
The difference isn’t simply the name on the jersey. It’s the experience behind it.
What does being part of an NFL FLAG-affiliated program mean?
Our organization is partnered with NFL FLAG, giving our athletes the opportunity to participate in a program connected to one of the most recognizable names in football.
Our focus, however, goes beyond the name.
We use the NFL FLAG platform as part of an overall experience centered around player development, competition, teamwork, and a love for the game.
I saw the Dallas Cowboys Logo for Clear Elite on NFL Flag League Finder. Does this mean my child is playing directly for the Dallas Cowboys?
No. Our Dallas Cowboys Club designation should not be confused with being an official Dallas Cowboys youth team or being directly operated by the Dallas Cowboys.
Rather, it identifies our organization within the NFL FLAG club ecosystem associated with the Dallas Cowboys market.
What makes our program valuable is the combination of that NFL FLAG affiliation and our competitive team structure, coaching, training, and tournament experience.
We believe families should understand exactly what they are signing up for. We’re proud to provide an experience built around developing young athletes through the sport of flag football.
Why should my family choose your NFL Flag competitive program instead of simply choosing the closest NFL FLAG or recreational league?
Convenience matters, but so does finding the right environment for your athlete.
If your child wants a casual introduction to flag football, a recreational league may be a great choice.
But if your child loves football, wants to improve, enjoys competition, responds well to coaching, and wants to challenge themselves against different teams, our program offers a more intentional development experience.
You’re choosing a program that provides:
- NFL FLAG affiliation
- 12 weeks of structured development
- Two practices every week
- Competitive tournaments throughout the DFW Metroplex
- A development-focused coaching environment
- Opportunities to build football skills and football IQ
- A team environment centered around commitment, accountability, and growth
Our goal for our competitive team isn’t simply to give athletes more games.
It’s to give athletes more opportunities to become better football players.
What does “competitive” actually mean?
Competitive doesn’t mean that winning is more important than everything else.
It means we expect athletes to work, learn, compete, and continually improve.
Our athletes are challenged to develop:
- Strong football fundamentals
- Flag-pulling and defensive technique
- Route running and catching
- Throwing and quarterback skills
- Speed and agility
- Football IQ
- Communication
- Teamwork
- Confidence
- Discipline
- Resilience
We want athletes to learn how to compete while also learning how to respond to mistakes, adversity, coaching, and pressure.
How do I know if competitive flag football is right for my child?
Ask yourself:
- Does my child love football?
- Do they want to get better?
- Do they enjoy being challenged?
- Are they willing to practice twice a week?
- Are they excited about competing against different teams?
- Do they respond positively to coaching?
- Is our family willing to make a greater time and financial commitment to their development?
If the answer is yes, our competitive program could be a great fit.
Recreational football is about playing the game. Competitive football is about developing through the game.
Our program is built for the athlete who wants to do both.
What makes your competitive flag football program different from a recreational program?
Our program is designed for athletes who have a genuine love for football and want to develop their skills, compete at a higher level, and grow as athletes and teammates.
Unlike traditional recreational programs that typically focus on league play and participation, our competitive program provides a 12-week structured season, with two practices each week and competitive tournaments throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex.
The goal isn’t simply to play games. It’s to create an environment where athletes can learn, practice, compete, receive coaching, and continually improve.
Do you play in a league?
Our competitive program is tournament-based rather than traditional recreational league play.
Instead of playing the same teams repeatedly in a weekly league schedule, our athletes compete in tournaments throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex.
This gives players exposure to different teams, coaching styles, athletes, and competitive environments while creating a more challenging and exciting football experience.
Why play tournaments instead of a traditional recreational league?
Tournament competition creates a different environment.
Our athletes face different teams throughout the season rather than simply following a predictable weekly league schedule. Tournaments can challenge players to adjust quickly, compete against unfamiliar opponents, and perform in higher-pressure situations.
These experiences help athletes develop confidence, composure, adaptability, and competitive maturity.
Does my child need previous flag football experience?
No. Not at all!
We care more about an athlete’s attitude, commitment, coachability, and desire to improve than simply how many seasons they’ve played.
Our coaches will teach the fundamentals and help athletes develop their skills. What we ask in return is that players come ready to learn, practice, compete, and support their teammates.
Is this program appropriate for beginners?
Absolutely!
Our program is best suited for athletes who want to learn, are willing to practice, and are excited about being challenged.
An athlete does not need to be the best player on the field to join a competitive program. However, they should have a desire to improve and be willing to commit to the expectations of a competitive team.
If your child is brand new to football and simply wants to try flag football for the first time in a low-pressure environment, a recreational program may be a better starting point.
How do I register my athlete to play?
Please select NFL Flag Football from our listed Programs. Select the appropriate age division based on your athlete's current age. Pay the non-refundable registration fee, select and pay for the season you plan to participate in, and complete all player onboarding requirements.
What is the Clear Elite x NFL Flag Season Fee?
The Clear Elite x NFL Flag Football Season Fee is $450. This cost combines our 3-month, 12 week season, into one cost with each monthly cost totaling $150. This season fee does not include the registration fee or uniform cost.
Why does your program cost more than YMCA or recreational flag football?
Our program is a significantly different experience and requires a greater investment in both time and resources.
The cost reflects a 12-week competitive season, two practices per week, professional coaching and instruction, structured player development, tournament competition, and the additional resources required to prepare athletes to compete at a higher level.
Recreational programs can be a great introduction to football for families looking for a more casual experience. Our program is built for families looking for more development, more training, and more competition.
If your athlete simply wants to play flag football once a week, a recreational program may be the right fit. If they want to work on their game and challenge themselves against stronger competition, our competitive program is designed for that athlete.
Is the higher price worth it?
For the right athlete and family, we believe it is.
You’re not simply purchasing a season of games. You’re investing in a 12-week development experience that includes two practices each week, competitive tournament opportunities, coaching, instruction, and a structured environment focused on athlete development.
The value is in the additional training, additional competition, additional coaching, and additional opportunities to grow.
Ultimately, the right program depends on what your family wants from flag football.
What is the total program cost for a single Clear Elite x NFL Flag Football season?
The total cost for a single NFL Flag Football season is $600. This fee includes the 3-month membership ($150 monthly), the non-refundable registration fee ($50), and the uniform cost ($100). *Please note there may be additional cost associated with the NFL Flag Football season.
